GTA 6 Trailers: Official Timeline & Reveals

GTA 6 Trailer 1 gave fans the first official look at Leonida and Vice City. Released on December 4, 2023, it introduced Lucia and showed beaches, highways, nightlife, police activity, wildlife, vehicles, and the social media driven chaos shaping Rockstar’s new open world.

The reveal broke records straight away. Trailer 1 became the most watched non music video in its first 24 hours, and it has since passed 250 million views on YouTube with more than 1 million comments. It also arrived a day early, after a leak pushed Rockstar to drop it ahead of schedule, which only added to the hype.

GTA 6 Trailer 2 shifted the focus toward Jason, Lucia, and the story setup. Released on May 6, 2025, it showed more interiors, action scenes, fresh Leonida locations, and the criminal pressure surrounding the two protagonists. Fans quickly pulled screenshots and frame by frame breakdowns from Trailer 2, hunting for story clues about Jason and Lucia and their partnership.

Trailer 2 set an even bigger record. Rockstar called it the biggest video launch of all time, with around 475 million views across all platforms in the first 24 hours. For comparison, the closest film trailer at the time managed roughly 365 million first day views, which shows just how far ahead GTA 6 sits.

How Many GTA 6 Trailers Are There?

Rockstar Games has released two full cinematic GTA 6 trailers so far, Trailer 1 in December 2023 and Trailer 2 in May 2025. On top of that, a third official video called “An Extended Look” arrived on August 27, 2026. Rockstar never officially labeled it Trailer 3, but it is the video the community spent months waiting for under that name, so most fans count it as the third trailer.

So the honest count is two cinematic trailers plus one extended gameplay reveal. Rockstar has never stated a final total, and a separate launch trailer before the November 19, 2026 release is possible but not confirmed.

The Music in the GTA 6 Trailers

The GTA 6 trailers are almost as famous for their music as their visuals. Trailer 1 used Tom Petty’s “Love Is a Long Road,” a choice that became tied to the reveal for many fans and drove a wave of searches for the trailer song the moment it dropped. Trailer 2 switched the mood with “Hot Together” by The Pointer Sisters, a warmer and more upbeat pick that matched its story driven tone.

Here is the part worth knowing. Trailer music is not always confirmed to appear in the finished game. Rockstar picks these songs to set a mood, and while they often do end up in the soundtrack, the studio has not confirmed which trailer tracks will feature inside GTA 6 itself. GTA 6 Trailer 3 Status: The Extended Look Is Here

The wait for GTA 6 Trailer 3 is over. Rockstar released “Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look” on August 27, 2026. In a first of its kind partnership, it premiered on Netflix at 3 PM ET for subscribers, then went live free on Rockstar’s official YouTube channel and the GTA VI website at 9 PM ET the same day.

Unlike the two cinematic trailers, the Extended Look was a proper gameplay reveal. It ran around 26 minutes, was captured entirely from in game footage on PlayStation 5, and finally showed how GTA 6 actually plays. Viewers saw Jason and Lucia in action, more of Leonida and Vice City, combat and police chases, side activities, and a world that reacts to the choices you make. Rockstar dropped the reveal during a run of GTA 6 gameplay leaks, and even addressed those leaks directly before release, asking creators not to repost the footage without their own commentary. The Extended Look was made available worldwide on Netflix with subtitles in more than a dozen languages, a sign of how global the GTA 6 audience has become.

Will there be a GTA 6 Trailer 4 or launch trailer? Rockstar has not announced one. A short launch or final trailer often lands close to release, so another video before November 19, 2026 is possible, but nothing is confirmed yet. We will update this page the moment Rockstar shares anything new.
