Quick Answer
Rockstar has shown several helicopters in official GTA 6 material, most clearly the Sea Sparrow, which appears in the first trailer and on the official box art, alongside a Police Maverick in pursuit scenes and an attack chopper. GTA 6 planes are a different story. Almost every “confirmed” plane list online, naming the Dodo, Shamal, Duster, and Mammatus, traces back to the 2022 leak rather than anything Rockstar has published. Aircraft will absolutely be in the game, but the plane roster is far less confirmed than sites suggest. GTA 6 launches November 19, 2026.

Confirmed Helicopters in GTA 6

Helicopters are where the solid ground is, because Rockstar has actually put them on screen.
The clearest is the Sea Sparrow, an amphibious light helicopter fitted with pontoons that let it land on water. It appears in the first trailer and, more tellingly, on the official GTA 6 box art. Rockstar does not put vehicles on cover art casually. For a state built around coastline, keys, and swamps, an aircraft that can set down on water makes a lot of sense.
The Police Maverick shows up too, chasing the protagonists through pursuit scenes exactly as you would expect. And an attack-style chopper has been spotted in trailer footage, with a police variant appearing in Ultimate Edition promotional art.
That gives us a handful of genuinely visible helicopters, which is more than most people realize.
Why GTA 6 Planes Are Not Actually Confirmed
Now for the part almost nobody tells you.
Search for confirmed GTA 6 planes and you will find tidy lists naming the Dodo seaplane, the Shamal private jet, the Western Duster biplane, the JoBuilt Mammatus, and a few others. They look authoritative, and they get copied from site to site.
Trace them back and they lead to a single source: the GTA Wiki’s vehicle page, which the wiki itself files under leaked upcoming content. That data came from the 2022 leak, not from Rockstar. Some of it may prove accurate, leaks often do, but a leaked file is not a confirmation, and content can change or get cut between a leak and release.
To be clear: no full plane has been prominently featured in an Official GTA 6 trailer the way the Sea Sparrow has. That is a meaningful difference, and it is why our confirmed plane list is essentially empty while our helicopter list is not.
“Confirmed” and “leaked” are not the same word, but on most vehicle sites they get treated as one. If a plane name comes from a 2022 development file rather than a Rockstar trailer, it belongs in the rumor column, no matter how detailed the entry looks.
Will There Be Planes in GTA 6?
Yes, almost certainly. Let us not overcorrect into pretending planes are in doubt.
Every mainline GTA since Vice City has featured flyable aircraft. Leonida is a large state with an airport, and Rockstar confirmed Vice City International Airport by name. Building an international airport into your map and then not letting players fly out of it would be a strange choice.
So this is analysis rather than confirmation: expect a full plane roster, likely including seaplanes given all that water, private jets, and probably a crop duster for the rural areas. We simply cannot tell you their names yet, because Rockstar has not said them.
Rockstar usually saves aircraft reveals for later marketing, since planes photograph poorly in short cinematic trailers. If a third trailer arrives showing gameplay, that is where the plane roster will likely surface, not in the story-focused footage we have seen so far.
GTANerd Analysis
Here is our take, clearly labeled as analysis. The Sea Sparrow appearing on the box art is a bigger signal than fans have picked up on.
Think about what it does. It is a helicopter that lands on water. In a state made of coastline, island chains, and the wetlands of Grassrivers, that is not a novelty, it is a genuinely useful traversal tool. Pair it with the airboats seen in the swamp footage and a clear design philosophy emerges: Rockstar is building Leonida around the fact that a huge portion of the map is not solid ground.
For you, that likely means air and water travel matter more than they did in Los Santos. In GTA 5, the helicopter was mostly a way to skip a drive. In GTA 6, an amphibious chopper could be the practical way to reach places a car simply cannot. That would make the aircraft roster part of the map design rather than a bonus, which is a more interesting proposition than a bigger list of jets.

Our Verdict
The split here is sharper than most sites admit. Helicopters have real, visible confirmation, with the Sea Sparrow leading the way straight off the box art. GTA 6 planes have almost none, just leaked names passed around as fact. Aircraft will be in the game, that much is safe. Which ones, and what they are called, is still Rockstar’s secret.
The Strategist
Confirmed:
The Sea Sparrow appears in the first trailer and official box art. A Police Maverick and attack chopper have been shown in official footage.
The Wildcard
Unconfirmed:
Every plane name in circulation, the full aircraft roster, flight stats, and hangar ownership. Popular plane lists come from the 2022 leak.
Sources & Verification
Aircraft were checked against Rockstar Games’ official trailers, screenshots, box art, and edition reveals. Plane names circulating online originate from the 2022 leak and are treated as unverified until Rockstar confirms them.
