Quick Answer
Rockstar has not published an official GTA 6 cars list, but between the trailers, official screenshots, and the August 27 Extended Look, fan databases have now catalogued close to 300 vehicles. Only a small number are officially named by Rockstar, led by Jason’s Vapid Ganado (originally revealed as the Creado) and the Ultimate Edition rides like the ’95 Grotti Cheetah. Everything else has been identified by the community from official footage or its real-life inspiration. GTA 6 uses fictional brands like Vapid (Ford), Bravado (Dodge), and Grotti (Ferrari), and launches November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X and S.
How Many Cars Are in GTA 6?
Confirmed and Reported: There is no official number yet. What we can say is that vehicle databases tracking official trailers, screenshots, and the Extended Look have now logged close to 300 vehicles of all types. For scale, GTA 5 launched with well over 200 and grew far beyond that through GTA Online, so GTA 6 is on track to be the biggest garage the series has ever had.
Just keep the honest line in mind: catalogued is not the same as officially named. Rockstar itself has put names to only a handful. The rest are confirmed on screen but named by the community.
How This List Is Labelled
To keep things trustworthy, every car here falls into one of three buckets:
- Officially named: Rockstar has given it a name, through the Ultimate Edition, screenshots, or the game’s website.
- Shown in footage: clearly visible in an official trailer or the Extended Look, and identified by the community, usually a returning vehicle fans know on sight.
- Spotted inspiration: a new car seen on screen but not yet named, identified only by the real-world car it is based on.
That way you get the big list you came for, without us pretending a background car is a Rockstar confirmation.
Jason’s Car: The Vapid Ganado (Formerly the Creodo)

Officially named: The hero car of GTA 6 is Jason Duval’s personal ride. Here is a detail that trips people up: when Trailer 2 and the game’s website first showed it, the car was named the Vapid Creado. Rockstar later renamed it the Vapid Ganado around the Ultimate Edition reveal, so both names float around online, but Ganado is the current official one.
It is a two-door muscle pickup, a “coupe utility,” based on the 1970 Ford Ranchero with a few Mercury Cougar cues. Rockstar describes it as Jason’s aging pickup, and the Ultimate Edition includes an exclusive retro-modified Ganado parked at his safehouse, with a cab spoiler, rear antennas, and a special livery.
If you see the “Vapid Creado” on older lists and the “Vapid Ganado” on newer ones, they are the same car. Rockstar simply changed the name. Any list still calling it the Creado just has not updated.
GTA 6 Cars by Class (With Real-Life Inspirations)
This is the part everyone actually wants: the roster sorted by type, with the real car each one echoes. Remember GTA blends cues from several real cars into one fictional model, so these are the closest matches, not exact copies.

New Cars Spotted in the Extended Look
Spotted: The Extended Look was a car-spotter’s dream. Beyond the ones above, enthusiasts picked out a luxury SUV clearly modelled on the Rolls-Royce Cullinan, a red muscle “hero car” in the Chevy Chevelle mould that Jason breaks into, and a striking supercar built from several Ferrari 488 shapes. Background traffic added modern-muscle nods to the seventh-generation Dodge Charger, the Camaro ZL1, and the current Ford Mustang. None of these are named yet, but they show Rockstar’s art team is working from very current reference cars.
GTA 6 Car Brands: Fictional to Real
Confirmed: GTA never uses real car brands. It builds its own, each echoing a real manufacturer. Knowing the brand tells you what to expect from a car before you even drive it.

Ultimate Edition and Pre-Order Cars
Officially named: A few standout rides are tied to special editions. The Ultimate Edition includes the ’95 Grotti Cheetah, the ’67 Vapid Dominator Buggy, and the retro-modified version of Jason’s Ganado. The Vintage Vice City pre-order pack adds the ’55 Vapid Stanier. Our GTA 6 Ultimate Edition guide breaks down every exclusive.
PRO TIP The special-edition cars are cosmetic bonuses, not must-haves. The Standard Edition still gives you the full open world and its huge stock of vehicles. Buy Ultimate for the extras, not out of fear of missing the core game.
How You Get and Steal Cars
Confirmed: Stealing a car is more involved this time. The Extended Look showed multiple ways in: smash a window, use a slim jim, or work a hotwire minigame, and newer cars can make you get around electronic security. You will also buy and customise rides through in-game shops, with mod garages shown in official footage. Exactly how ownership, storage, and insurance work has not been detailed yet.
The Ultimate Edition cars are cosmetic-tier bonuses, not gameplay must-haves. If you are buying purely for the rides, know that the Standard Edition still gives you the full open world and its huge stock of vehicles. Grab Ultimate for the extras, not out of fear of missing the core experience.
Why the “200+ Confirmed” Lists Are Misleading
Here is where we part ways with most of the internet. You will see headlines claiming 146, 200, even 300 “confirmed” vehicles. Those numbers are inflated. They come from three shaky sources: background cars spotted in trailers, the 2022 leak, and simple guesses that GTA Online rides will carry over.
None of that is official. Rockstar has named only a small set of vehicles so far. The rest, however likely, is unconfirmed. That does not mean the game will be short on cars, GTA 5 shipped with hundreds, and GTA 6 will almost certainly go bigger. It just means nobody outside Rockstar can hand you a real, complete grand theft Auto 6 cars list yet. Anyone who claims otherwise is selling certainty they do not have.
How You’ll Get Cars in GTA 6
Rockstar has not detailed the full system, but based on the series and what the trailers show, expect the familiar routes. You will steal cars off the street, and the trailers already show vehicle-theft tools in play. You will likely buy rides through in-game sources, and mod shops appear in official footage, with the Ultimate Edition’s Rideout Customs business shown for deeper personalization. Exactly how ownership, storage, and insurance work has not been confirmed, so treat those specifics as open questions for now.
GTANerd Analysis
Analysis: The rides Rockstar has chosen to name and feature tell a story. A muscle pickup, a Testarossa-era Cheetah, an off-road buggy, a Crown Vic sedan, and a Chevelle getaway car span eras and terrains: neon-strip glamour, swamp and beach off-roading, and gritty street muscle. That points to a Leonida where the car you pick matches the world around you, a buggy for the Keys, a supercar for the Vice City strip, a beater for blending into traffic. Less a showroom to collect, more a set of tools for where you are and what you are doing. That is our read of the pattern, not a confirmed feature, but the spread is deliberate.

Our Verdict
The Strategist
Confirmed:
GTA 6 is set to have the biggest garage in series history, with close to 300 vehicles already catalogued from official footage. Officially named cars include Jason’s Vapid Ganado (formerly the Creado), based on the 1970 Ford Ranchero, plus Ultimate Edition rides like the ’95 Grotti Cheetah and the ’67 Vapid Dominator Buggy. GTA 6 uses fictional brands modelled on real makers and launches November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X and S.
The Wildcard
Unconfirmed:
Rockstar has officially named only a fraction of the roster. The full car count, the names of most vehicles spotted in footage, and the complete ownership and customisation systems are all still unconfirmed. Real-life inspirations are community identifications, not Rockstar statements, since GTA blends multiple cars into each fictional model.
